Issue: Yahoo Smtp Server Not Working

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. SMTP is required to send emails from an email account. If your Yahoo SMTP server not working properly, follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below.

  • On your computer, open the default browser and log on to the official Yahoo Sign In page.
  • Check if you can access your Yahoo account with the help of your login credentials.
  • If you have configured your Yahoo account on an email client such as Thunderbird, Outlook, or Apple Mail, check whether you have enabled POP access on your Yahoo webmail.
  • If you have not enabled it, log on to your Yahoo webmail and click the Settings icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Select the Mail Options option from the drop-down menu.
  • Navigate to the left-side panel and click the POP & Forwarding tab.
  • Enable the 'Access Yahoo Mail via POP' radio button while fix the Yahoo SMTP server not working issue.
  • Next, select your profile name at the top-right corner of the web page and choose the Account Info option.
  • Click the Account Security tab from the left-side panel and toggle on the button next to the 'Allow apps that use less secure sign in' option.
  • If you have configured the Yahoo email account on Outlook, launch the Outlook app first.
  • Click the File tab and select the Info option from the left-side panel.
  • Click on Account Settings and select your account from the pop-up window.
  • Click the Change or Modify button and verify the configured server settings.
  • Make sure that you have entered '' if you have selected IMAP as your account type.
  • For the POP account, enter '' in the Incoming mail server field.
  • Check whether you have entered '' in the Outgoing mail server field.
Yahoo SMTP server not working
  • Verify whether you have entered the correct email address and password in the required fields.
  • Click the More Settings button and go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Check the My Outgoing server (SMTP) required authentication checkbox and select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.
  • Click the Advanced tab. Verify the selected SSL/TLS settings and port numbers.
  • Click OK and return to the POP and IMAP Account Settings screen.
  • Click the Test Account Settings button to test your account settings and ensure that the entries are correct.
  • Now, click Next and select Finish.
  • Try composing a new email and check if you can send emails from your Yahoo account. And the Yahoo SMTP server not working issue is fixed.
