Why Outlook 365 Not Receiving Emails On iPhone?

Sometimes, when you are expecting an urgent email, but you are unable to receive it for hours, you might be thinking, “why the Outlook 365 not receiving emails on iPhone?”

Even though you have updated your iPhone and the Outlook app to the latest version, the issue can pop up due to several other reasons. The first step you should do is, cleaning the junk folders in Outlook. If any message has been accidentally moved to Junk, you can mark it as Not Junk.


There might be a possibility that your Inbox is full, and you are totally unaware of it, so you need to make some space by cleaning a few unwanted emails.


In some scenarios, emails may be moved to other tabs instead of the Inbox. It can be due to filters that you might have enabled. You can log into your email account from a browser and check if there are any filters. You must also have a look at the other tabs as well.

Other Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Check your Internet signal strength. If it is weak, you might not receive Outlook mails frequently.
  • Ensure that the Outlook server is not down. If you come to know that the server is down, you need to wait until the issue gets fixed on the server end.
  • Sometimes, your mail delivery system can be the reason. You can cross-verify it by sending a test mail to yourself. If the mail reaches the Inbox, there is no problem with the server.
  • If you have enabled Outlook mail forwarding for some reason, then it will forward all your Outlook emails to another account.
  • Go to the Settings page, turn off the forwarding feature, and check those missing emails by logging in to another account to which the emails were forwarded.
  • Outlook offers a feature, which automatically directs all unwanted emails to the Spam folder without letting them enter the Inbox. So, cross-check your Outlook Spam folder, as there is a possibility that your received emails are being moved to this folder.
  • You might have intentionally or unintentionally added the sender’s email address to the block list.
  • To unblock the sender, go and check the security and privacy settings of your Outlook account.
  • Download the latest Outlook mail app on your iPhone, or if you find an update option, try to update the same.
  • If the issue persists, uninstall the application, and try to reinstall the same.
  • Remove your account from the Outlook mail application and re-add it.
