Solved: Outlook 2010 Cannot Connect To Exchange 2016

Solution 1: Disable Work Offline

  • Step 1:If you have closed Outlook, launch it again by double-clicking the Outlook shortcut icon on the desktop.
  • Step 2:Ensure that the Internet connection is stable on your computer.
  • Step 3:In the Outlook app, click the Send/Receive tab.
  • Step 4:Locate the Work Offline button. If there is a tick mark on Work Offline, uncheck it or click the Offline button.

Now, Outlook will get into online mode and connect to your Exchange server.

Solution 2: Repair Outlook from Control Panel

  • Step 1:Start the process by opening the Run command box---press the Windows + R shortcut keys.
  • Step 2:Input ‘control’ in the Run command box and hit the Enter key.
  • Step 3:Click the Programs and Features tab in the Control Panel window.
  • Step 4:Select your Microsoft Office installation from the displayed list and click the Change button at the top.
  • Step 5:Click on Repair and select Continue.
  • Step 6:Wait until Outlook is repaired automatically.
  • Step 7:Restart your Windows computer and relaunch Microsoft Outlook 2010 to check if it can connect to Exchange server 2016.
  • Step 8:If the problem remains unsolved, try the next solution.

Solution 3: Configure the connection to a proxy server

  • Step 1:Launch the Outlook app and click the File tab.
  • Step 2:Select Info from the left-side panel and click on Account and Social Network Settings.
  • Step 3:Click on Account settings and select your email account.
  • Step 4:Select Change and click on More Settings.
  • Step 5:In the Internet Email Settings window, go to the Connection tab.
  • Step 6:Under the Outlook Anywhere section, select the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP option.
  • Step 7:Next, click on Exchange Proxy Settings to specify a proxy server.
  • Step 8:Input the URL to connect to a proxy server and then select the following checkboxes.
  • Step 9:Connect Using SSL only
  • Step 10:Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate
  • Step 11:Input ‘must: URL’ in the text field.
  • Step 12:Under the Proxy authentication settings section, select the NTLM authentication option from the drop-down menu and click OK.
  • Step 13:Restart Outlook and check if the problem has been resolved.
