Issue: Icloud Smtp Server Not Working  

An email message could not be sent from your iCloud email account if the iCloud SMTP server server is not working. The reason behind this problem is incorrect server settings. Check if the server settings of the iCloud email account are correct and change it if it is wrong with the help of the quick instructions provided on this page.


  • Launch the Mail application on your Mac computer/laptop.
  • Navigate to the Mail tab and click the Preferences option.
  • Go to the Accounts tab and select the iCloud email account that is not working.
  • Click the Account Information or Server Settings tab.
  • Note: The tab may vary depending on the Mail version of your Mac.
  • Choose the Edit SMTP Server List from the Outgoing Mail Account or Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop-down menu.
  • Navigate to the iCloud SMTP server Settings or Account Information tab, check if the server details are correct, and modify them if they are incorrect.

  • Navigate to the Settings screen on your iPhone, scroll down, and select the Mail, Contacts, Calendars option.
  • Choose your iCloud email account from the Accounts list.
  • Edit the server details if they are incorrect and then save the changes.

Incoming (IMAP) server details

  • Server name or host name -
  • Authentication - Required (SSL)
  • IMAP port - 993
  • Username - Enter the name part of the iCloud email account (without including the domain name)

Outgoing (SMTP) server details

  • Server name or host name -
  • Authentication - Required (SSL)
  • SMTP port - 587
  • Username - This should be the same as the incoming mail server username
