Windows Mail Error Code 0x80000b

The Windows Mail error code 0x80000b is related to the sync issue. In Windows 10 computer, there is a built-in email application called Mail app. This mail application will try to sync your email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, or any other accounts. The error message 0x80000B is experienced by the users mostly during the login time. The error codes 0x80070425, 0x8007042b, and 0x8000ffff also indicates incorrect sync process.

Some of the causes of the error 0x80000B are discussed below.

  • POP or IMAP is disabled
  • Your system’s firewall or a third-party antivirus application is blocking the request

Some of the possible ways to solve the Mail error code 0x80000B are discussed below. 

  • As soon as you face this error, first, try to close the application.
  • Then, relaunch the Mail application and try to sign in.
  • If the Windows Mail error code 0x80000B persists, then check if the Windows Defender or Antivirus program installed on your computer is causing the issue.
  • If so, disable or turn off the Windows Defender or antivirus software installed on your Windows computer.
  • To do it, launch the Windows Defender Security Center application on your computer.
  • Navigate to the Firewall and Network Protection section.
  • The list of network profiles configured on your Windows computer will be displayed on the screen.
  • From the list, select the one you wish to turn OFF its Windows Firewall feature.
  • After disabling the feature, try to sync the email account with the Mail app.
  • If the Windows Mail Error code 0x80000B persists, then enable the Allow Mail through Windows Firewall option
  • On the Windows Defender Security Center’s main interface, locate and click the Firewall and network protection option.
  • Select Allow an app through firewall > Change settings.
  • Now, the list of applications installed on your Windows computer will appear on the screen.
  • From the list, locate and select the Mail option.
  • Make sure to tick the Private and Public checkboxes beside the Mail option.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Now, try to sync your email account with the Mail application.
  • Reset the Mail app if the error code 0x80000B persists.

To reset the Mail app on your Windows 10 computer, follow the instructions given below.

  • Locate and press the Windows Logo and I buttons on your Windows 10 computer’s keyboard.
  • Now, launch the Settings window.
  • Click System > Apps & Features > Mail app.
  • Locate and click the Advanced options option.
  • Click the Reset button provided at the bottom of the screen.
  • Once the reset process is completed, close the Settings window.
  • Launch the Mail app and perform the prompts as displayed on the screen.
  • To resolve the Windows Mail error code 0x80000B, you can also try signing in your account using the Advanced Settings option.

For the Google account users:

  • First, sign in to your Google account and enable the IMAP option.
  • After that, launch the Mail application on your Windows computer.
  • Click the Settings option or cogwheel icon.
  • Select Accounts > Add Accounts > Advanced Setup > Internet email.
  • Now, you will be prompted to enter the Incoming email server, Outgoing email server details.
  • Ensure to enter the server details correctly.
  • After entering the details, click the Sign-in button.

For the Outlook application users:

  • On the Mail application’s Choose an account screen, click the Exchange option.
  • Enter your Outlook accounts email id and its security key in its text fields.
  • Click the Sign-in button.
  • Now, check if the Windows Mail error code 0x80000B issue is resolved.
