Issue: Yahoo Mail Password Not Working

Unable to sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account? Receiving an error message stated Invalid ID or Password? Perform the simple steps given below to get it solved. The error message Invalid ID or Password indicates that your Yahoo! Mail account credentials are not matching with the Yahoo record. To fix this Yahoo mail password not working issue,

Server type

  • Initially, make sure that you have entered your Yahoo! Mail account password correctly.
  • Check if your system’s Caps lock or Num lock is enabled. If yes, disable it and then enter your password.
  • If your mail account’s password is not working again, then check whether you have changed your account password recently.
  • If yes, update your browser’s auto-fill settings so that you don’t need to enter your account credentials manually every time.

Updating Auto-fill settings:

In Microsoft Edge:

  • Click the Settings and more option followed by Settings.
  • Select the Password option.
  • Locate the Offer to save password option and click the toggle button beside it to fix the Yahoo mail password not working issue.

In Chrome:

  • Open the Chrome browser.
  • Click Profile > Passwords > Saved Passwords > More > Export Passwords.

  • If the Yahoo! Mail password not working issue persists after changing the auto-fill settings, then try to sign in to your account using another web browser. For example, if you’re encountering this issue in Safari, then use Chrome to sign in. Similarly, if you’re using Chrome, then try using Edge or Mozilla Firefox.
  • If you still can’t access your account, then the problem is with your preferred browser. To resolve it, follow the instructions given below.
  • First, clear your browser’s cache and then try to sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  • If clearing the cache clearing doesn’t resolve the issue, update your browser (if available).
  • If the update process also doesn’t resolve the issue, restart your computer.
  • Sometimes your computer’s antivirus, antispyware, or firewall program may be blocking the sign-in process. So, it is better to disable these security programs temporarily on your computer.
  • Try resetting your browser to default settings. The reset process will almost resolve the Yahoo mail password not working issue.
  • If someone has changed your account’s password without your knowledge, then use the Sign-in Helper to retrieve your account credentials.
  • After retrieving your account, make sure to review the account settings and secure it properly.
  • Now, try to sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account. If you encounter the same issue, then click the Forgot Password command line and follow the on-screen prompts to create a new strong password.
  • After creating the new password, try to sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  • If the Yahoo! Mail account’s password is invalid or the wrong message is displayed on the screen, then contact us for remote assistance.

Solution for sync issue in Thunderbird:

If you have a stable Internet connection, but the Thunderbird client is not synchronizing, perform the following steps.

  • Launch the Thunderbird client.
  • Go to Tools -> Account Settings.
  • Click the Synchronization & Storage tab in the left panel.
  • Navigate to the Message Synchronizing section and select the ‘Keep messages for this account on this computer’ option.
  • Note: If you have not selected this option, click the Advanced button and deselect the ‘Show only subscribed folders’ option.
  • Go to the Disk Space section and select the radio button beside the ‘Synchronize all messages locally regardless of age’ option.
  • Click OK to save the altered settings.
  • Close the Account Settings window.
  • Now, check if synchronization works properly in Thunderbird.
