What Are Dreamhost SMTP Settings?  

To configure the Dreamhost SMTP settings to any email client, you need to know the following incoming mail server and outgoing mail server settings.

Incoming Mail Server

  • Hostname - (IMAP) or (POP)
  • POP Port - 995
  • IMAP Port - 993

Outgoing Mail Server

  • Hostname - (SMTP)
  • SMTP port - 587

Dreamhost account configuration

To add the Dreamhost email account to a third-party email client, carry out the easy instructions mentioned below.

Outlook 2016 Settings

  • Launch the Outlook 2016 email client and click File -> Add Account.
  • Type the Dreamhost account’s email address in the ‘Enter an email address to add your account’ field, click the Advanced options link, and select the checkbox next to the ‘Let me set up my account manually’ option.
  • Once you click Connect, select POP or IMAP in the Choose account type dialog window.
  • The Dreamhost SMTP settings dialog window will appear on the screen.
  • Go to the Incoming mail section, fill the Server and Port fields, and choose SSL/TLS from the Encryption method drop-down menu.
  • Navigate to the Outgoing mail section and provide the correct details in the Server, Port fields, and Encryption Method drop-down list.
  • Select the ‘Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)’ checkbox and click Next.
  • Enter the Dreamhost email account’s password in the Password field and click Connect.
  • If the email configuration is successful, the ‘Account successfully added’ message will be displayed on the screen.


  • Open the Thunderbird email client.
  • Click File -> New -> Existing Mail Account.
  • Fill the Your Name field and provide the Dreamhost account details in the Email Address and Password fields.
  • To save the account password in Thunderbird, checkbox the Remember Password option.
  • Once you click Continue, select IMAP or POP and you will see the server settings of the Dreamhost account on the screen.
  • Check if the server details are correct. If so, click the Done option.
  • The Thunderbird email client will configure the Dreamhost account automatically.
  • To change the settings, return to the main interface of Thunderbird.
  • Select the email account on the left panel and click the View settings for this account link on the main panel.
  • Click the Dreamhost SMTP settings tab on the left panel and modify the settings if needed.


  • Open the default web browser and access the Gmail account.
  • Click the gear-shaped icon and choose the Settings option.
  • Click the Accounts and Import tab followed by the Add a mail account button.
  • Enter the Dreamhost email address and select the Next option.
  • Click Import emails from my other account -> Next.
  • Fill the required fields with the incoming server details and select the Add Account option.
  • Once done, click Yes -> Next.
  • Fill the Name and Email address field when the next dialog box opens.
  • Provide the outgoing server information and click Add Account.
  • Now, you can access the Dreamhost email in your Gmail account.
