Why My Phone Won’t Connect To Wifi Authentication Problem?  

If you see an error message related to authentication on your Android mobile phone screen while connecting it to a Wi-Fi network, carry out the easy steps given here to resolve this wifi authentication problem.

Step 1 - Resetting the Wi-Fi connection

  • Go to the Settings application on your Android mobile phone, select the Wi-Fi option, and search for your network.
  • Long press the SSID of your network and select the Forget Network option.
  • Connect the phone to the Wi-Fi again.
  • Make sure to enter the correct Wi-Fi password.
  • If the wifi authentication problem continues, proceed with the rest of the steps.

Step 2 - Duplicate wireless name

  • The main reason for the authentication problem could be the network credentials like username and password.
  • If the password that you have entered is correct, the selected SSID might be wrong.
  • Someone in your neighborhood might also be using the same SSID as yours.
  • Change the SSID of your network and try to connect your phone to it.

Step 3 - Wireless network configuration

  • On the Settings screen, tap the Wi-Fi option and long press your network.
  • Select the Modify Network Config option from the displayed menu.
  • Select the checkbox next to Show Advanced Options, navigate to the IP Settings section, and change it from DHCP to Static.
  • Note down your static IP address.
  • Delete the IP address in the Static IP Address field and type it again.
  • Fill the other necessary fields, such as IP Address, Gateway, Subnet Mask, and DNS.

Step 4 - Airplane mode

  • Turn off the Wi-Fi feature and your mobile network.
  • Enable the Airplane Mode.
  • At the same time, turn on Wi-Fi as well.
  • If the Android mobile phone is connected to Wi-Fi successfully, turn off Airplane Mode.

Step 5 - Reset network settings

  • In the Settings application, select the Backup & Reset option followed by the Network Settings Reset option.
  • Once you tap the Reset Settings option at the bottom of the screen, the network settings will be reset to default.

Step 6 - Software update

  • Tap the About Phone option on the Settings screen and select the System Updates or Updates option.
  • If an update is available, download and install it.
  • After updating the software, reboot your mobile phone and then connect it to the Wi-Fi

Step 7 - Factory reset

  • Tap Settings -> Backup & Reset and select the Factory Data Reset option.
  • This will clear all the data on the Android mobile phone.
