Gmail not working in Outlook

Solution1: Enable POP/IMAP Settings in Gmail Account

  • Emails like Gmail need IMAP or POP forwarding to be enabled for receiving emails in the Outlook mailbox.
  • To enable the POP/IMAP forwarding, open the default browser on your computer.
  • Navigate to the official Gmail Sign-In page to fix this Gmail not working in Outlook issue.
  • Enter the email address and password (for Gmail) in the required fields and click the Sign-In button to access your Gmail account.
  • Next, click the Settings icon at the top-right corner of the screen and select the Settings option from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and navigate to the IMAP access section.
  • Select the Enable IMAP option.
  • If you have configured your account using POP in the Outlook app, navigate to the POP download section.
  • Select the Enable POP for all mail option.
  • Apply the changes and check if the problem has been resolved.

Solution 2: Configure Gmail server settings manually On Outlook

  • First, remove the existing Gmail account in the Outlook app.
  • Log in to the Gmail web page and click on your profile image to select My Account.
  • Select Sign-in & Security from the left-side panel and scroll down to Connected apps & sites.
  • Select the Allow less secure apps option and save the applied changes.
  • Now, launch the Outlook app and click the File tab available at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Click the Info tab from the left-side panel.
  • Click on Account Settings and select Add Account.
  • On the Auto Account Setup screen, enable the Manually configure server settings or additional server types radio button and click Next.
  • On the Choose Service screen, select the Internet Email option and click Next.
  • In the Add New Account window, go to the User Information section and type a name for your Gmail account in the Your Name field.
  • Enter your email address (Gmail) in the Email Address field.
  • Under Server Information, choose either POP or IMAP as your account type from the Account Type drop-down menu.
  • Enter the correct incoming and outgoing mail server names in the Incoming mail server and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) fields.
  • Under Logon Information, enter your email address and password.
  • Click the More Settings button and go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Enable the radio button and the checkbox at the top.
  • Move on to the Advanced tab and enter the server ports.
  • Select SSL or TLS if you wish to use secure SSL/TLS settings for your account.
  • Click the OK button and select Test Account Settings.
  • Wait until the server settings are verified.
  • Once verified, click Next and select Close.
  • Try sending a test email from your Gmail account and check if the Gmail not working in Outlook issue has been resolved.
